Collaboration isn’t just something we want to see students doing, it is something we continuously and consciously practice throughout the development process of our curriculum. OpenSciEd brings together leading science researchers and educators to create a curriculum that is aligned to how students learn best. As a result of these partnerships, our curriculum fosters deep, engaged science learning AND is free for anyone, anywhere — and can be shared, redistributed, and adapted into customized curriculum.
OpenSciEd’s curriculum was developed to support all students in meeting the vision for science literacy described in A Framework for K-12 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
EdReports gave the OpenSciEd Middle School program green ratings on all three benchmarks: designed for the Next Generation Science Standards; coherence and scope; and usability. Green ratings represent the highest ranking in EdReports’ review system for science programs in grades 6-8.
All OpenSciEd units have been rated as ‘quality’ by the Science Peer Review Panel at NextGenScience and is the only curriculum designed for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) that has had every unit rated as quality by the Science Peer Review Panel at NextGenScience. In contrast, 93% of instructional materials submitted to the Science Peer Review Panel for review do not achieve a quality ranking. The reviews for all of our units are available on NextGen Science’s page.
