Unit Release Schedule

Middle School Unit Release Schedule

We are nearing the end of our middle school development! We are less than 10 days away from having a comprehensive, freely available, high quality middle school course to share with students and educators. As we approach this exciting milestone, we will be celebrating the many voices that contributed to the materials and inviting educators to share #MyOpenSciEdStory.

Countdown to Full Course

Stay tuned as we release the remaining three units over the next few weeks and complete our middle school program.

  • February 17th – 7.6 Earth’s Resources & Human Impact
  • February 24th – 8.6 Natural Selection & Ancestry

We currently have 16 units available for download and the remaining 3 units will be released in time for them to be taught during the 2021-22 school year. All units can be downloaded free of charge from the Access Instructional Materials page. The length of each unit can be seen in the Unit Length visual, with each day being 45 minutes.

Each OpenSciEd unit undergoes an 18-month development process that includes external reviews, a robust field test, and revision. OpenSciEd will be releasing units at the end of this process and after they are evaluated by NextGenScience’s EQuIP Peer Review Panel and have received a quality rating. If your school system is considering using the OpenSciEd instructional materials, we would be happy to provide a presentation and answer any questions you may have.
