Using OpenSciEd’s instructional materials (or considering it)?

Join us for the virtual OpenSciEd Middle School Curriculum Launch! You’ll leave with everything you need to get started, including a comprehensive understanding of the OpenSciEd middle school curriculum, how to implement it in your classroom, and how to facilitate professional learning for other educators (if attending the facilitator sessions). The developers of the OpenSciEd curriculum are excited to give you the tools and professional learning needed to help you make OpenSciEd’s phenomenon-based learning come alive in your classroom, school district, or other context. 

During these sessions, you will:

• immerse yourself in teaching and learning best practices anchored in compelling phenomena and in important community and global problems. 
• engage in lessons as a ‘student’
• reflect as a teacher and apply learning to your own context
• become an expert in navigating the resources embedded in the OpenSciEd materials so you can maximize your impact on student engagement and learning. 

This professional learning session will also support educators to dig into one of the following units: 6.1 Light & Matter, 7.1 Chemical Reactions & Matter, or 8.1 Contact Forces. You will also come together with all three unit group areas to discuss and reflect on the routines and resources that promote equitable science learning in your classroom.

Teachers:

• Four days of virtual professional learning via Zoom –  July 29th-August 1st, 2024
• Hours: 11 AM-6 PM Eastern (EST) daily; one-hour “lunch break” at 2 PM EST
• $1100 per participant ($1000 for early bird tickets, expires April 8th)
• Continuing Education and Graduate Credits are available! All participants will be provided with an official certificate of completion. 
• Registration closing date: June 17th, 2024

Facilitators: 

• Four days of virtual professional learning via Zoom – July 29th-August 1st, 2024
• Hours: 11 AM-6 PM Eastern (EST) daily; one-hour “lunch break” at 2 PM EST
• Two additional half-days of virtual professional learning via Zoom – July 26th & August 2nd
• Hours: 11-4:30 EST
• $1850 for individuals, $1600 per person for organizations sending 3 or more individuals ($1750 and $1500 for early bird tickets, expires April 8th)
• Continuing Education and Graduate Credits are available! All participants will be provided with an official certificate of completion at the end of the course with the number of clock hours of professional learning completed.
