Liberty Science Center
Liberty Science Center is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers and exciting learners of all ages about the power, promise, and pure fun of science and technology. LSC provides interactive STEM experiences for students, educators, and families.
Liberty Science Center started its work with OpenSciEd in 2018 with a cohort of 45 pilot teachers from across New Jersey. To date, LSC has completed six professional learning cycles of the full OpenSciEd middle school scope and sequence for the first cohort of New Jersey educators. LSC is currently working with additional school districts to support their launch of OpenSciEd through instructional model overview and unit-specific professional learning series.
Liberty Science Center works with teachers, schools, and districts to design and implement professional learning centered around equitable learning opportunities. These learning opportunities leverage resources such as STEM Teaching Tools, which highlight equitable and inclusive instructional practices. LSC facilitators also engage in their own ongoing professional learning around equitable science education.
Liberty Science Center is an educational partner to many school districts in NJ and the greater NY region, offering engaging, relevant, and student-focused teacher professional learning opportunities. LSC works closely with district leaders and educators to ensure that our professional learning supports their curricular and student learning goals. Many of these educational partnerships are ongoing, providing various opportunities to build and sustain teacher capacity and improve student sense-making in science.
