Arm Span Data Set - OpenSciEd

Students have investigated trait variation of all kinds in many organisms in order to figure out what causes the differences we see: genetic factors, environmental factors, or both? They want to investigate variation in human arm span lengths, but establish that one classroom of students might not provide a large enough sample to show the range of variation they expect to see in this trait. So, during Lesson 16, students collect their own arm span measurements and add them via Google form to this data set. Since the set is so large, this digital tool helps them more quickly visualize the variation in the distribution of arm span lengths.

This data set is part of Unit 8.5 Genetics. For more information and to see how it fits into the unit, visit the Unit Overview page.
