As part of the STEELS standards, teachers should include Pennsylvania environmental literacy and sustainability in their science courses. Participants will explore the OpenSciEd instructional model through the lens of two different units. Dive into powerful strategies like storylines, anchoring phenomena, productive talk, coherence, and assessment, gaining the confidence and skills needed to navigate complex topics such as natural hazards and climate change. Engage in interactive sessions, leaving with practical tools to elevate your science teaching and inspire students. This is a dual track workshop, offering a unit-specific focus for middle school and high school teachers. Elementary teachers can come to gain pedagogical as well as content knowledge.

This workshop is being offered in partnership with Cool Heron, a certified provider of OpenSciEd professional learning and Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit. The workshop will be hosted by the Vernal School at Mountour Preserve. www.vernalschool.org
